Minimum Reporting Requirements for SFP
The Minimum Reporting Project (MRP) has developed and piloted a standardised Minimum Reporting Package on emergency Supplementary Feeding Programmes (SFPs). The need for this package was identified during the review of emergency SFPs conducted between 2001-5 which identified that reporting of programmes is often weak and unstandardised.
The Minimum Reporting Package has developed three main tools:
- A set of guidelines and data collection templates
- Supporting manuals and training materials
- A database application for data entry, analysis and reporting based on the guidelines, and employing user-friendly software developed for this purpose.
The MRP guidelines was developed through a consensus building exercise with a large number of humanitarian agencies during 2008/9. The software for the guidelines was developed over a two year period following four country pilots in Zimbabwe, Thailand, Ethiopia and Kenya. The final report is now available.
SCUK have started to roll out the MRP under an ECHO funded grant which ends in December 2012. Under the grant, ECHO funded agencies implementing SFPs will be encouraged to adopt the MRP and remit data to a central data repository. These data will subsequently be used for a meta-analysis of emergency SFPs in order to assess overall performance and context specific factors which influence programme effectiveness. The ECHO project will also implement a help desk for agencies utilising the MRP which provides support as well as feedback on programme performance.
