Article that the CODEX ALIMENTARIUS COMMISSION has accepted the WHO/FAO Guidelines for Safe Preparation, Storage and Handling of Powdered Infant Formula at the Thirty-first session in Geneva, Switzerland, 30 June - 4 July 2008
Note: The article gives a quote that can be misleading: 'A few years ago when babies became ill and even died because infant formula in developing countries was contaminated or was mixed with dirty water, it became clear that some products were unsafe' When read fully it appears the the 'few years ago' part of the sentence links with 'some products were unsafe', however, without careful reading and thought people may well be under the impression from this sentence that problems with infant formula, especially in developing countries, were over. This is far from the case as many papers and articles in this resource library show, including the Lancet series.
